The next instalment of this theme.  The main focus with these pieces is the small size and detail.  A few years ago I spent a number of months specifically oil painting large canvases and boards with more focus on the overall composition.

This is the next of my 2009 leaf drawings.  The inspiration for these drawings was from the numerous visits made to parks and gardens during September 2009 after I had left teaching.  It was a good feeling not being in an environment that was so stressful and instead spent days getting ideas for art projects and taking my girls out and about.  For the first time in years I liked September and to date still enjoy this time of year which in previous years had not been the case!

Leaves 2009

This is the other drawing that has been put off for a number of months while I did my main paid work.  It's based on photos that I took in 2009 on an outing to a local park at the end of the summer.  It was an particularly enjoyable visit because it was the the first month after quitting teaching and every day just felt like freedom after the difficulties I'd been through during the previous 12 months (including crippling sciatica).

Acer 2

This latest drawing has been in the pipeline for a few months.  Extra work and then the Christmas period has meant that it is only now that I have been able to finish this piece.  There is another to follow this week that has simultaneously been in production.  Hopefully I can have a few productive months before my other job takes over during the late spring/summer months.
